There is a serious shortage of women working in the trades industry, but The Ministry for Women have undergone a great initiative to help remedy this shortage.

The Ministry for Women have launched a fantastic handbook for trades employers on how to attract more women to trades jobs.

The demand for trades workers is increasing. The 2014 Construction Pipeline Report predicts very high demand for building and construction in New Zealand through to 2019.

Naturally when there is a high demand for building and construction there will be a high demand for trades people. So why not open up the opportunity to attract a more diverse workforce, including attracting more women to the trades industry.

The hand book:

  • States the case for employing women in the trades – including getting a competitive edge, and growing your business
  • Has many examples of employers and tradeswomen talking about their jobs, and why it works well
  • Provides practical messages on how to get women in trades jobs.
