JOB DESCRIPTION:

Senior Quantity Surveyor

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced quantity surveying professional to join our Northland office and the wider Quantity Surveying team. They will have confidence in their abilities, are comfortable operating autonomously (with support) and provide leadership and outstanding service to internal and external clients.

Some responsibilities of the role will include:

• Technical leadership in estimating, payment valuations, cost planning, procurement, post-contractual cost management, variation assessments and bank funding
• Project ownership and self-managed conduct on commissions.
• Proposal preparation, job delivery, work planning and financial management tasks.
• Mentorship and training.

ABOUT YOU

• You have a minimum of five years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, at least three of which are in the New Zealand environment.
• You have a proven track record in the civil / infrastructure space – such as roading and rail.
• You are comfortable in a consulting environment, working alongside high-profile clients.
• You have a recognised tertiary qualification in quantity surveying.
• You have an active MNZIQS or MRICS professional accreditation.

Key skills:

•  Highly competent in using the relevant ‘tools of the trade’ for quantity surveying, including CostX and strong MS Excel skills.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in a simply understood manner.
• Demonstrable ability working on infrastructure projects.
• Strong attention to detail, able to focus on critical elements and, at the same time, remain mindful of the big picture.
• Able to operate autonomously, while also appreciating the benefits of collaboration.
