Theme: Disruption and Transformation in the Built Environment

The global trends shaping the Built Environment (BE) Sector have been driven by Digital Revolution, Rapid Urbanisation and Climate Change. As we advanced into Industry 4.0, we constantly faced with challenges from the digital and technology disruptions, and business has to respond to unexpected changes on many fronts. While we are confronted with these challenges, there are certainly opportunities for the BE sector and QS / Cost Engineering professionals as we ride the disruption waves to transform.

PAQS-IWATA Travelling Scholarship

PAQS established the PAQS-IWATA Foundation in 2008 for the purpose of promoting the QS profession and the professional development of your quantity surveyors in the PAQS regions.  The Foundation is now sponsoring an international essay competition for your members from PAQS member countries.

The essay topic for 2020 is : Disruption and Transformation in the Built Environment

The competition is now open and entries can be sent in up till 22nd June 2020.

Call for Abstracts

We are currently calling for abstracts for both industry and academic presentation submissions.  We are seeking papers that will provoke debate, stimulate discussion, offer new ideas, learning and encourage the dissemination of emerging technologies.  Technical submissions from the industry professionals are encouraged on current or future projects, methodologies and technologies.  The theme of this congress aims to break out of this mould, to adopt disruptive technologies to improve the construction industry.

We are encouraging academic submissions based on research outcomes and developments.

Submissions are due by 29th February 2020.  For more information see
