Categories of Institute Membership (updated 13 March 2009)

Since 2003 there have been three initial levels of NZIQS membership:

Prior to 2003 the first Qualified Member category was Associate Member (ANZIQS)

 Associate (ANZIQS)
Since the rules change in 2003, Associate member (ANZIQS) category can no longer be awarded. Previously it was the main recognised professional qualification conferred by NZIQS. Associate level was gained in a variety of ways over the years with the majority completing a recognised QS tertiary qualification (e.g. NZCQS) , plus additional professional examinations controlled by NZIQS initially and through NZQA Diplomas subsequently, and following a professional interview by an NZIQS Panel – generally a 5 – 7 year process.
