Review of The Building Act 2004

As advised last year a DBH review is in progress with the aim of:

removing regulation that adds cost for little benefit, streamlining existing rules, and providing incentives for building practitioners to lift performance; and
other longer-term issues on improving the allocation of risk and liability, and the greater use of insurance/warranty products to better manage risk.

NZIQS Council wishes to represent the views, suggestions and comments from QS members based on their own experiences to the Review now and at the Select Committee stage. NZIQS wants to make submissions which allow a reduction in restrictions affecting the good practitioners biggrin.gif unnecessarily without losing sight and control of the maintenance of proper standards for the benefit of the building owner/user (and the monitoring and discipline of the 'cowboys' angry.gif in the industry).

Members please contact John Granville rolleyes.gif or your Branch Board or Councillor with your views and suggestions NOW.
