The NZIQS is based in Wellington New Zealand. It is run by committee to provide support to member Quantity Surveyors in New Zealand and act as an advocate for all Quantity Surveyors on Construction industry and Quantity Surveying education issues.

The NZIQS exists to:

• Promote the interest of it's members
• Promote the highest ethical standards for the profession of Quantity Surveying
• Promote the highest educational standards for the profession of Quantity Surveying
• Encourage Quantity Surveying "best practice" in New Zealand
• Promote the profession of Quantity Surveying nationally and internationally

Since 2008 NZIQS Council has approved a ‘Strategic Plan, Jul 09’ to support successive Councils and Branch Boards in their medium/long term guidance of activities and events for members.
To complement this Strategic Plan a short Term ‘Business Plan, 24 Mar 10’ has also been approved by Council which provides specific activities for the forth coming 3 – 5 years.
